Beep! Number Town stops. The fountain and rides freeze in place. Maru rolls to you. “You, please be our Shape Repair Chief. Let us restart the town!”
The machine has three empty sockets. Maru hurries and tries the red gear in the triangle socket. It spins out because the edges do not match. “Color alone cannot tell us where it fits.”
The missing gears are a red circle, yellow triangle and blue square. Maru traces each outline. The circle has no corners; the triangle has three.
The blue square has four straight sides. The machine has the same three outlines. “Repair is not about rushing. The edges are our clue.”
