Rebuild the Washed-Away Bridge

Morning at the vehicle depot. Toot-toooot! The trouble horn sounds. Vroom, the little scout van, comes rolling up. “Emergency! The rain washed the river bridge away. Captain You, come with me!”

Across the river waits a rabbit parent and child. They cannot get home, and their ears droop. Vroom says, “The big crane truck can do it right away!” But the bank is bumpy, so the plank wobbles and tilts.

The team looks closely at the site. The ground is bumpy. The plank is heavy. The path is soft. Three troubles, found one by one.

Vroom's headlights go wide. “I see. If the ground stays bumpy, anything we lay on it will tilt.” One big truck cannot do this alone. It is time to take turns and work together.

Three vehicles roll in from the depot, side by side. The red excavator, best at digging. The yellow crane truck, best at lifting. The green roller, best at smoothing.

Vroom looks up at you. “Captain You, which vehicle will you call first? The order matters. Look at the site and decide!”
