Enjoy the story first
In the app, open episode 1 of Kota’s English Journey and choose English or Japanese in the reader. When Kota meets Lily on a plane, look at what they want to say to each other before thinking about translation.
Listen to one little phrase
Switch languages and use the narration to hear a greeting. You can listen to “Hello!” and “Excuse me!” in the English edition. Parents do not need to model the pronunciation. Listening is enough; joining in is optional.
Take one phrase beyond the page
Ask, “What could we say when we want someone’s attention?” This need not be a quiz. You can return to the characters’ feelings or a picture you both liked.
